a brief history of me

When I first started in the furniture industry, in order to learn about the construction of furniture, I asked Graham Cox of Module Furniture in Melbourne if I could work for him. He graciously accepted and I learned the fundamentals of how to build frames, upholster and sew.

Since then, I have had the privilege of making furniture for a huge variety of people and applications. Some of my most notable achievements included making the Cabinet table for Parliament House in Canberra, furniture for movies like the Star Wars series (now kept at Skywalker Ranch) and the Matrix, and curved sofas for the Channels 7, 9, 10 and SBS studios on-site at the London and Sochi Olympic Games.

Most recently, I have designed and manufactured special exhibits for the National Maritime Museum and the Festival of Sydney.

Over the last two years, I have turned my attention to the design of this unique range of swivel chairs, chosen because swivel chairs create a counter to static furniture in the house or office and make it easier to converse and connect.

Please feel free to get in touch with me at michael@casparandolly.com to talk chairs or about any other projects you might have in mind.
